On custom Facebook pages images must exist on your own server (or somewhere else on the internet) and linked to from the Facebook page code.
The only images that can be uploaded directly to Facebook are the logo for your fan page and the image used on your profile page.
FBML provides code that will pull your profile or logo picture to your fan page so you don’t have to link to it from a different server.
Here’s how you do it.
Last week I wrote an article how to add a flash or youtube video to a Facebook fan page tab using Static FBML.
Continuing this series, I am going to show how you can add a mp3 music file to your custom fan page tab. This would be a great way to add music for a fan page for musicians.
I decided to take a rare peek at Google Analytics and find out what my top 5 articles were of 2009 by pageviews.
The results didn’t surprise me and are a glimpse into what people are interested in right now and does make me question my focus here a little.
One of the top 5 was the home page. I am not including this in the list but rather actual articles.
Update 2/17/11: After March 11, 2011 the Static FBML application will no longer be available. It will continue to work on existing custom tabs but all new tabs will need to be created with Iframes. Please see my tutorial on how to create a custom Facebook page tab with Iframes.
People often ask how to rename the page tabs on their facebook fan pages. Unfortunately, this functionality does not currently work. Facebook used to have this feature but it hasn’t worked since the last update.
You can, however, use the fbml application to create a custom box that is used as a tab. The tab will be whatever you name it, such as Welcome or Services, and that tab will contain whatever data you included in that fbml box.

It has accidentally become Facebook week. I did not plan this and originally was only going to use the post I wrote on Monday about not integrating Twitter and Facebook. But then a question in the comments inspired me to write the tutorial for deleting and editing Facebook applications. So, today I will round it off with information on Facebook fan pages.
I recently created a Facebook fan page for this website and my business. Prior to this I was sending business information through my personal Facebook page. While I still do this with my blog posts, my personal page contains too much goofiness, like links to new Monkey Island videos, to be considered professional. The fan page contains some of articles, reviews of my work and links of interest about WordPress and freelancing.
I learned quite a bit about Facebook while making the fan page and discovered some applications that are really useful.
