Ok, sometimes I need a break from writing or fixing blogs or actually doing my day job but I still want to keep my mind alert. This is when I like to play casual games – hidden object or puzzle ones. Playing for a little bit gives me a break but doesn’t make me stupid like television or put me to sleep like reading and then I feel ready to get back to work.
One of the best sites that gathers the best of the best of the casual games is Jay is Games. The site description is,
The best Flash and Casual games available on the Web get reviewed, discussed and recommended here.
My favorite types are the hidden object and the room escape. A hidden object game is like a more difficult version of Where’s Waldo while in a room escape you are stuck in room and you have to locate the clues to get out of it.
Not all of the games are free but a lot of them are. If you click on the Tweek

Hi Kim,
Thanks for the link. I’m a sucker for online flash games. I like room escape games too :-)
I like these types of games because its a quick video game fix. I don’t really sit down and play many console games unless something really gets my interest or somebody recommends something really good. ;-)

@Wesley – Great – it’s a fun site :-)
@Stratos – I have played Azada! I have a Big Fish membership – it makes each game $6.99, which I think is a really good deal.
I did just get the new Tomb Raider and will be starting that over the Thanksgiving break.
@Jim Great! Are you referring to Indigo Prophecy? How about Sam & Max?

When I want to take a break I pick up a book. Fortunately it doesn’t have the same soporific affect on me that it has on you *smile* I can’t play computer games for a break because I would never get back to work! One more tetris! One more mahjong! Nope, computer games are a slippery slope to nothing getting done.

Hi Urban Panther – Thank you for visiting and commenting.
I don’t know what it is. I love to read. But this last year I fall asleep almost every time I do read. I thought, well I read to late at night so I’ll read during the day. Doesn’t matter – I still fall asleep.
True about the games – that does happen sometimes ;-)

Hi Kim, I always like new resources and occasionally I play games like Mahjong and I should read. If I let myself read fiction, I won’t stop. Non-fiction, unfortunately, does make me sleepy. I could give myself permission to read in the morning since I work for me and get up at 5am. By 7pm, my brain is tired and I move the computer from my office to the living room and watch shows like NCIS or some other cop show with one eye while working on the computer.

@Donace – I know :-) Aaahh … sleep.
@Julie – Hi! I can’t relax with tv – it makes me a little tense. I wonder if non-fiction makes me sleepier than fiction. Could be …
