This week I have a lot of WordPress, Facebook, calories and fast food, and more.
Favorite Photo Meme
Well, Tara Cain is at again because she’s also tagged me in the favorite photo meme.
I’ve thought about this quite a bit because I used my favorite photo in a post about my grandmother almost a year ago. I wasn’t sure if I should use it again or select my second favorite.
Ultimately, I decided to reuse the photo. It’s been my favorite since I took it over 20 years ago and probably will always be my favorite. If I were to pick a second favorite, it would have to be one of my daughter, like the photo above, but I don’t think I could decide.
The WordPress Fetch Feed Function and the Feed Cache
A couple of days ago I wrote about how to use a RSS feed with the WordPress fetch feed function.
I was excited about figuring this out because I could place the feed wherever I wanted and didn’t have to worry about using a plugin.
I set it up in the evening and bookmarked a new page that should have updated the feed the following morning. Later in the day I noticed the feed hadn’t updated with the new bookmark so I started to worry that I hadn’t set it up properly or that it wasn’t going to be a workable solution.
How to Add a RSS Feed Without a Plugin Using the WordPress Fetch Feed Function
Why back in the dark ages of this site I wrote an article about how to create a delicious bookmarks page. This is a page with a piece of javascript provided by delicious and is pulling my bookmarks that are tagged with WordPress.
Well, call me dense but there is a WordPress function called Fetch Feed that can be used to do the same thing and can actually be used to pull any RSS feed to your templates without the use of a plugin.
(Anti) Social Lists 1/17/10
Over this long weekend, at least for schools, I have farming in Detroit, WordPress, reading, sleeping without a blanket, restaurant names, and more!
