Happy April!
This week I have information about Twitter, Facebook, bus tracking, wedding crashing lizards and more.
Not many people know this, not that it’s a secret or anything, but I have a website about Mary Shelley and Frankenstein that has been online since 1996.
In the early 90’s I was researching the origins of the woman’s movement and read A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft and discovered that she was Mary Shelley’s mother. I became fascinated in the often shocking life of Mary Shelley (I’m actually not a huge fan of the novel due to it’s readability but it is ground-breaking) and when I learned html in 1995-1996 I decided to make a website about Mary Shelley and Frankenstein to practice my new skills and use a topic in which I was interested.
About 10 or so days ago Facebook started emailing page admins a weekly page update. I was curious about what information would be included in this email but didn’t receive one until a week later.
The email I received was actually quite long. I realized that I am still an Admin on almost every Facebook page that I have worked on.
It occurred to me that I should email my clients and ask them whether or not they still want me to be an admin on their pages. That, of course, will go on my list of things to do when I’m really super bored, which is basically never ;-) No, seriously, I will contact them. Personally, I think if someone is done working on your fan page that you should remove them as an admin. I also look to be removed when I have finished the work because I don’t want any any errors that are caused by the client or by Facebook to be blamed on me. If I’m not an admin I have no access to make any edits so the error couldn’t possibly be my fault.
I used to work in tech support. While I enjoyed the work I didn’t like the way the department was managed and continually had issues with this. Not only do I have a problem with authority figures but I also have a hard time dealing with extreme stupidity, especially from those earning a much higher salary.
I was going through some plugins recently and started thinking about how WordPress could be used as a system to provide technical support for end-users.
Happy end of March and beginning of Spring. It’s definitely getting warmer but since my heat is already off sometimes I am at my desk hovered over the space heater (with the two kitties right next to it as well). The daffodils and cherry blossoms are blooming and it’s starting to look lovely here in Philly. Of course, everyone is sneezing but that will pass.
This week I have going google free, above the fold, freelancing, WordPress, some skateboarders in Uganda, and more.
