Although I didn’t have my posts planned out this past week like I normally do, I did manage to keep track of the awesome links that I found. This week I have a WordPress User Guide, WordPress hacks, SEO information, a list of Twitter resources, my article at Environmental Graffiti, information about helping a loved one with a mental illness, and more information on Train for Humanity and Darfur. Hopefully you will find something useful or inspirational.
- WordPress 2.6 User Guide – Spectacu.la has a 48 page WordPress guide in pdf format that you can download. This is a great resource for getting started with WordPress.
- 30 More Most Wanted WordPress Tips, Tricks and Hacks – this is basically just what the title says. Included are resources for tabbed sidebar navigation, sidebars with dynamic content, category exclusion, and much more.
- 30 Ways to Get Links Naturally and Stop Link Building – A guide that basically states that giving back to the community is the best way to get links to your site. It also offers a list of suggestions of things you can create and do to make this happen. I’m planning on creating a free theme – if I ever find time to work on it.
- 25 Incredibly Useful Twitter Tools and Firefox Plugins Noupe has provided the ultimate list of twitter resources. Personally, I use the web, twitter search, and tweetdeck.
- What Can I Do? Helping a Friend or Family Member with a Mental Illness – Mike Nichols has created a comprehensive guide for the best ways to help a loved one who suffers from a mental illness.
- Welcome to the Village Underground – Another mention of my article at Environmental Graffiti, Welcome to the Village Underground. Old subway cars have been converted to workspace for artists in London.
- Shegekaro School Bombed – Train for Humanity Hoping to Help Train for Humanity is hoping to raise money to rebuild a school that was bombed in Darfur and in which 6 young children were killed. Visit their site and donate if you can. If you can’t afford to then tweet about the efforts on Twitter, write a blog post about their articles, stumble their posts … Just support them anyway that you can.
I liked some of those thirty tips to build links naturally… I am convinced that providing some free useful services is the easiest way other than regularly updated good content.

I agree that it would be the easiest way to build links and increase traffic. I just don’t know when I’m going to have the time to create something. Even when I do have the time I’m slow and fussy.
Do you use the normal trackbacks or you use any specialised plugins? I been getting a lot of trackbacks for my sites from unrelated websites so just wondering
Hi Jake – I don’t use anything special for trackbacks. I set them to be moderated though and if they aren’t relevant, I delete them.
