You can hide tabs from appearing in the list on the left of your Facebook page. You might want to hide an application that you don’t use, such as Events or Photos or you may be working on a custom tab that you don’t want to be publicly available (of course, you do need to unhide it to work on it yourself.)
And, this is easy to do. The instructions are below.
Facebook has been making a lot of changes recently and for once, most of them are positive – they are adding useful features rather than confusing us with interface redesigns.
One change, announced in May, is going to affect those of us who have custom Facebook pages built with iframes. Starting October 1, 2011, all Facebook applications are going to be required to have SSL certificates. Since a custom page is considered to be a Facebook app, pages will have to fulfill this requirement.
Last Winter I wrote a popular article on creating a custom Facebook page tab with iframes. Since Facebook seems to enjoy changing the interface and settings as soon as we get accustomed to them, they have slightly changed the page for creating a new Facebook application and there are some different fields to fill out.
Here I will provide updated instructions.
Recently Facebook launched a section called Resources that will assist page Admins in managing their pages. It can be accessed by going to Edit Page and the selecting the Resource Tab.
The last link under Additional Resources is called Brand Permissions.
One of the visitors to my fan page pointed out that there is a Screenshots section in Facebook’s Brand Permissions that requires written permission before using any Facebook screenshots.
