Aahh … it’s April. The weather is getting warmer … well, I think it is – my house is very cold since the heat is turned off for the season. Apparently that builds character or so I’m told. And while I’m happy that Spring is here/coming April is not one of my favorite months. I’m not sure why but November and April are the saddest times of the year for me – maybe it has something to do with the change from one season to another. It also rains an awful lot in April. I don’t mind rain but since I walk everywhere and half the time I’m with a 6 year old, it can get a little annoying. Anyway, on to the links …
- Victorian Ghost Picked Up By Google Street View So, take a look at the photo and the article – what do you think? Is it a ghost? If not, what do you think it is?
- Obama Depressed, Distant Since ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Series Finale If you’re a Battlestar Galactica fan, you will find this article by The Onion amusing. Be careful though it may contain inadvertent spoilers if you’re not up to date with the series. And, even if you aren’t a scifi fan, I highly recommend this show. So say we all.
- 15 Useful WordPress Tricks to Make Your Theme Even Better – This article lists useful WordPress tweaks such as automatically changing the copyright year, disabling comments on posts older than a month, and how to display a list of allowed comment tags. If you’ve been visiting for awhile, you’ll see that I did the tweak to show the html tags that can be used in the comments. This was only something I’ve been meaning to do for at least 6 months.
- Play game, plant tree – In this online game with an eco theme you shoot at things that are bad for the environment, such as SUV’s and a junk mail company. Your scores are then totaled to go towards planting trees. It takes a lot of points to get a tree plant but you can combine your scores with other players.
- You’re Not a Social Media Expert You Idiot – This article discusses how self-proclaimed experts are not experts and the different social media types that you will encounter on twitter.

Before watching this video I had never heard of Glenn Beck and I wish I could continue in my ignorance but Colbert has some great lines in this one.
The Colbert Report Mon – Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c The 10/31 Project Colbert Report Full Episodes Political Humor NASA Name Contest - This is the promo video for the upcoming Popcap Game, Plants vs Zombies. It’s just so bizarre and cute and strange that I had to include it. It’s not my type of game but this video almost makes me want to play it.

Thanks, Kim. Another awesome list!
I really want to read that Obama BSG article but am only on season 2.
Plants vs. Zombies is hilarious. I probably won’t play it but I don’t think it could ever live up to the genius marketing.
And I read a separate article about a small town forming a human chain to stop the Google street view vans from coming through to photograph their town. Maybe Victorian ghosts are just less organized…
Kim Woodbridge says
Hi Jim – LOL at the disorganized ghosts :-)
Don’t read the Obama article! And get back to BSG …

i can tell you why november is depressing – because winter is here. dark days. april not so sure, maybe because we’re tired of winter. :)

Hi Valerie – Yeah – November makes sense – April not so much.
I tried a couple of the tips – only the last one difficult-ish. I try things on my test site too – usually. Sometimes I am too lazy.

Plants vs. Zombies is awesome. I don’t play games at all really, but I’d play this one. Well, if it came as an iPhone app. My 13 year old says it seems “full of epic win”
I loved the “You’re NOT a social media expert, you idiot”. Do you think it’s something about our times that so many people seem to readily think they are experts?

Hi Tracy – LOL – “full of epic win”. Regardless of what the game is like that video was great marketing.

Hi Kristi – That’s probably the most complicated tip on that list. I don’t like having them mixed in with the comments either.

Can always use a few more WordPress tip. Thanks for the link.
Colbert is too funny. When the writers were on strike he maintained it, That impressed me.
