April is almost over and I only have one more week at my day job – yay! I keep swinging between being really excited and being really scared but am hopeful and mostly confident.
I was really busy this week (as always) but came across a lot of good links. We start with Chernobyl, have some WordPress, some freelancing, and some more WordPress. :-)
- Chernobyl: A Creepy Story Told in Pictures – Chernobyl was the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history and occurred 23 years ago today. These chilling photographs were taken 20 years after the disaster.
- WordPress Plugins for Theme Development – If you develop or are interested in developing themes for WordPress, these plugins may assist you. Plugins include Theme Switcher, Theme Test Drive and User Switching.
- 100+ Massive WordPress Tutorial Collection – A huge list of WordPress tutorials. A lot of 2.7 ones are included so if you’re planning on upgrading or just got started with WordPress this is a great place to start.
- Top 10 WordPress Plugins for Login – After I wrote an article about WordPress Login Security, Raju compiled a great list of WordPress Login plugins. If you are interested in enhancing login security, check out his list.
- The Monster List of Freelance Job Sites – 2009 Update – A huge list of job sites for freelancers. Looks like something for almost everybody.
- Perisable.biz Jeff Starr has created this very cool WordPress site without using any plugins or hacks. Definitely check it out.
- Interview with Kim Woodbridge – Who? Stratos is in journalist mode and has started an interview series. I’m honored that he started with me. :-)
- It’s National Dance Week so I decide to include The Evolution of Dance.

Hi Madhur – Thanks! I think it will be hard to get through all of those tutorials though ;-)

Wow, that set of pictures from Pripyat were just absolutely chilling. Thanks for that link. I actually vaguely remember Chernobyl when it happened. I was only 4 but I remember my parents talking about it. I want to read the book the author links to in the article: Voices from Chernobyl.
On a lighter note, sleepy puppy is just adorable. :-)
Thanks, Kim!

Hi Jim – So it’s one of those little kid memories for you? I remember hearing about guerrillas fighting on the news (prob. Central America) and thought they were talking about gorillas – didn’t make any sense to me and the English language doesn’t make much more sense to me now.
I’m about as tired as that sleepy puppy right now. ;-)

Those Chernobyl photos are chilling. I cant believe they were taken 20 years later. I would like to think “never again”, but I’m pessimistic.
Kim Woodbridge says
Hi Carla – I know – you always have to take into account human error and since we aren’t perfect accidents are going to happen. The photos are really disturbing.

Another nice compilation Kim! Those Chernobyl pics are terrible and consider this. I was born a little before the accident and i live in Greece… There where major problems there and all over the Balkans back then as my mom told me. So, lucky lucky lucky me ;)
Chinese Girl says
Those Chernobyl photos are scarring but the other list are awesome. Especially the link for 100+ wordpress tutorial is a great resource for reference.

Hi Stratos – Thanks! I didn’t realize that the Balkans were affected. I know that a lot of the radioactivity moved into Finland. I watched a program about the effects on the people and the reindeer there.
I was in high school when this happened and remember it very well.
