Saturday is Independence Day here in the United States. People have cookouts and watch fireworks. It’s a big deal here in Philly and is usually a 7-10 day celebration called Welcome America.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a big fan of most holidays. But I thought I would do a search and see what kind of Independence Day and patriotic themes were available. Here are 6 of the best ones that I located.

I like how clean the “Political Blue” theme is. All of the other themes are too busy and distracting (except the “Independence Day” one)

Hi Carla – I think I like the Patriotic 2 on the best. I guess something blue and white equals patriotic ;-)

Another timely post ;) While I like the American flag color combo, I do not particularly like themes around red and blue… they somehow give some stress to the eyes, I believe (I mean the combination of red/white/blue)

Hi Ajith – I’m not overly fond of red white and blue either.
What’s funny is that I didn’t plan this like I usually do – I decided to write
it at the last minute.

People where I live are already setting on fireworks. I guess they’re making test runs.
I like the first one. Its loud, garish and in your face. How American.

Hi Jim – “Welcome America” is like 10-14 days. I don’t like fireworks – they scare children and animals and are terrible for the environment.
John Hoff - WpBlogHost says
Never thought to do an Independence theme change before. I bet that would surprise many bloggers out there.
@Jim – Everyone can say something about everyone, I suppose.
Kim Woodbridge says
Hi John – Hmm … maybe I should dare you to change your theme for the holiday ;-)

Not for me.

Hi Kim – that is a long celebration. 4th July has caught on in the UK over the years. Even the pub in our small village will be having a 4th July party.
I like the first theme – not sure I’d have the courage to change my blog for the day though. I’d worry that something would go wrong.
Kim Woodbridge says
Hi Cath – really? I had no idea. The irony … ;-)
I wouldn’t want to change my theme for just one day – but I guess a theme like that would be good for someone who sells fireworks.

Many thanks for featuring my photo of the American Flag in this post, Kim. I hope that you and your readers have a great Fourth of July! :)

Hi Jonathon – It’s a great photo – thanks for making it available :-)

Those are some good, patriotic themes that could be modified to work year round. Thanks for the round up!

Hi Kristi – I hadn’t thought of that. Most of them could be adapted to
